A blog about
Expressions in design methodologyFlowing Danger The meaning of VeyronA skeptical Chris Harris from Autocar Magazine comes to certain conclusions after testing and going flat out in a Bugatti Veyron. Unbelievable speedometer live action included. I have been looking for a video or article that gets the essential point about the Veyron across shortly and effectively. The fact that, for several reasons, it is the most remarkable engineering achievement in the auto industry. In the literal sense of the superlative. What’s most incredible is how all the test drivers are left with a feeling of dissapointment by realizing that they are never going to feel anything like it again. As Jeremy Clarkson put it last year “it’s not only the best automobile ever built in history, it is also the best car we will ever see in our lifetimes”. Performance artI didn’t know you could do this with a car. Well, not exactly you, but some kind of overskilled human in Britain A guy with the fastest hands on earth, an amazingly agile Lotus Seven and some sort of drift/dance/track competition [Windows Media]. [Via Jalopnik] 2006 Honda CivicThe once-radical Japo whose latest generations were as exciting as unseasoned spaguetti seems to go back in the right lane Yep, I’m blogging about cars here. I think we need a new category. Anyway. These spy shots show a good attempt by Honda to retrieve originality in the design of their best seller. Original in the “different from the rest” sense, not like “same as the first generations”. Becasue actually this new Civic doesn’t look like any other Civic before (Link1, Link2), and while I appreciate the new risks (you have to be careful with putting the wheels so near the ends in a car that wants to look sporty), there won’t be anything like the ‘83, ‘87 and ‘91 generations. Click on more to see photos of all of them and in the links above for even more. Best car resource (?)Probably the most complete list of cars —including prototypes— of all time, including photos and descriptions It is the kind of listing I’d love to see printed in a book or enciclopaedia (not only because some links just don’t work and the navigation is far from perfect), but this link to Ultimatecarpage.com shows a list of most concept cars of all history (about 90%?) with several large photos of each. If you click on the manufacturers’ names you also get a list of most of their production cars too! That’s quite a lot of cars, dude. Note: I initially wrote this entry using “all” instead of “most”. I’ve been officially pimped!Or at least i’ve added a cute white stripe around my Seat Arosa all the Ford Gran Torino style [I just had to blog this]. I’ve been thinking about it for a year, doing sketches and photoshops, and it finally looks even nicer than I had imagined. It just works when you add stripes following the actual design lines of the car, instead of senseless tribals or flames that stick out like a sore thumb. If you live in Europe you know what I’m talking about. And yes, the Ford Gran Torino with the white stripe was the car of Starsky & Hutch. Click on more to see larger pictures of both cars. |
